SmarTrack Reco S7 Tracker | Fitted Nationwide

£149.00

The SmarTrack Reco S7 is a hardwired stolen vehicle tracking system tested to the Thatcham S7 standard and monitored around the clock by Global Telemetrics. It uses GPS/GLONASS satellite positioning with GPRS/GSM mobile communication, and includes an internal battery backup so it can keep reporting if the vehicle’s power supply is cut. Safe & Sound Mobile supplies the Reco S7 with professional nationwide mobile installation at your home or workplace.

  • Thatcham S7 tested – Meets the S7 stolen vehicle tracking standard, the category many insurers ask for on standard cars and vans.
  • 24/7 monitoring by Global Telemetrics – In-house UK Secure Control Centre covering the UK and Europe, with police liaison and an international repatriation network.
  • Global Telemetrics app – Free iOS and Android app showing your vehicle’s current location. Note: the Reco does not provide journey history.
  • Battery backup and tamper alerting – Keeps working if the vehicle battery is disconnected, and raises an alert with the control centre when it happens.
  • Low battery warning – Monitors your vehicle’s main battery and flags a drop in charge before it strands you.
  • Multi-network roaming SIM – Connects across networks rather than being tied to one, with European coverage as standard.
  • Transferable, 12V/24V, 3-year warranty – Can be removed and refitted to another vehicle. SmarTrack’s warranty is 3 years, extendable up to 12.

Subscription

The Reco S7 is a monitored system, so an active subscription with Global Telemetrics is required for tracking and recovery services to operate. SmarTrack publishes rates of £8.99 per month by direct debit or £99 annually. SmarTrack’s standard retail package includes the first year’s subscription — please confirm the current rates and exactly what is included with your order before purchasing.

Insurance Requirement

The Reco S7 is tested to Thatcham’s S7 category, which covers monitored stolen vehicle tracking without driver recognition. Some insurers specify S5 or S5 Plus instead, particularly on higher-value vehicles. Tracker requirements vary between insurers, so always check the exact category specified by your insurer before ordering.

SmarTrack Reco S7 Tracker – Supplied and Fitted Nationwide

The Reco S7 is SmarTrack’s hardwired stolen vehicle tracking system, tested to the Thatcham S7 standard and monitored 24 hours a day by Global Telemetrics from their own UK Secure Control Centre. It combines GPS/GLONASS satellite positioning with GPRS/GSM mobile communication and an internal battery backup, so the unit can continue reporting even if the vehicle’s power supply is removed. Safe & Sound Mobile supplies the Reco S7 complete with professional installation, using our nationwide mobile fitting service to come to your home, workplace or dealership.

Is the Reco S7 Right for You?

The Reco S7 suits owners who want a monitored, insurance-recognised tracking system without the added cost and complexity of driver recognition tags. It is a straightforward recovery product: if your vehicle is taken, a professional control centre locates it and works with the police and recovery agents to get it back.

SmarTrack lists the Reco as suitable for cars, hybrid and electric vehicles, vans, motorcycles, motorhomes, HGVs, plant, agricultural machinery and marine applications. It is 12V and 24V compatible, which is why it works across such a broad range of vehicle types.

If your insurer or finance agreement specifically asks for an S5 or S5 Plus device, the Reco S7 is not the right choice — those categories require automatic driver recognition using tags or cards, which the Reco does not have. Equally, if you want geofencing, journey history or fleet reporting, you should look at a different device in the SmarTrack range. Speak to our team and we’ll point you at the right one.

What Is Included?

  • SmarTrack Reco S7 hardwired tracking unit
  • Professional installation by a qualified vehicle security engineer
  • Nationwide mobile fitting at an address that suits you
  • Device activation and registration with Global Telemetrics
  • Global Telemetrics account and app setup
  • A demonstration of how the system works and what to do if the vehicle is stolen
  • Installation certificate to forward to your insurance provider
  • Aftercare and technical support from Safe & Sound Mobile

About the subscription: monitoring is a separately chargeable service provided by Global Telemetrics, not a one-off cost bundled into the hardware forever. SmarTrack’s standard retail package includes the first year’s subscription with the device and installation. After that first period the subscription must be renewed for tracking and recovery services to continue. Please confirm the current subscription rates and renewal terms with us before you order.

S7 Tracker Category and Insurance Requirements

Thatcham categorises stolen vehicle tracking systems by what they do, not by how expensive they are. S7 covers monitored tracking devices that report a vehicle’s location to a control centre and support the recovery process. It is the category most commonly asked for on standard cars, vans and motorhomes, and it is where the Reco S7 sits.

The step up is S5, which adds automatic driver recognition — a tag or card that must be present when the vehicle is driven. If the vehicle moves without it, the system reports an unauthorised movement. Insurers tend to specify S5 or S5 Plus on higher-value, high-performance and frequently targeted vehicles. The Reco S7 does not include driver recognition and is not an S5 device.

The Reco meets the S7 requirement through its combination of satellite positioning, mobile network reporting, backup battery, tamper alerting and round-the-clock monitoring by Global Telemetrics, who liaise with police forces and independent repatriation investigators during a recovery.

Before you order: tracker requirements vary between insurers, so always check the exact category specified by your insurer before ordering. Ask them in writing whether they require S7, S5 or S5 Plus. We cannot guarantee that any particular insurer will accept a given device, but if you tell us what your policy requires we will make sure you order the right one.

How the Reco S7 Tracker Works

1. Installation. The unit is hardwired into your vehicle and hidden out of sight. Because it is wired in rather than plugged in, there is no obvious connector for a thief to find and unplug.

2. Positioning. The Reco establishes its position using GPS and GLONASS satellites, then sends that information over the GPRS/GSM mobile network. The roaming SIM connects to whichever network is strongest rather than being locked to one provider, and works across Europe as well as the UK.

3. Everyday use. Day to day you don’t need to do anything. You can open the Global Telemetrics app whenever you want to see where the vehicle currently is.

4. Alerts. If the vehicle battery is disconnected or power to the device is cut, the backup battery keeps the unit running and an alert is sent to the Secure Control Centre. The system also monitors your main battery level and flags it if the charge drops. Where an aftermarket alarm has been connected to the optional alarm input, the control centre is notified if that alarm sounds.

5. If the vehicle is stolen. You report the theft to the police, obtain a crime reference number and contact Global Telemetrics. Their control centre is staffed 24 hours a day and begins locating the vehicle immediately.

6. Recovery. Global Telemetrics work with local and national police forces, and use independent repatriation investigators with local knowledge in other countries, to assist in getting the vehicle back. Note that the Reco does not offer remote immobilisation — recovery is coordinated through tracking and liaison rather than by stopping the vehicle.

Monitoring, App and Subscription

Monitoring

Monitoring is carried out in-house by Global Telemetrics, SmarTrack’s own Secure Control Centre, 24 hours a day across the UK and Europe. They handle theft reports, battery disconnection and tamper alerts, low vehicle battery warnings, and alarm notifications where an alarm has been connected. Following a theft alert or a reported theft, their team locates the vehicle and coordinates with police and, where the vehicle has left the country, with their repatriation network.

App

The free Global Telemetrics app is available for Apple and Android devices and shows your vehicle’s up-to-date location, along with your account details. On the Reco specifically, SmarTrack notes that historical journey data is not available — the app shows where the vehicle is, not a log of where it has been. If journey history matters to you, a different SmarTrack device would be a better fit.

Subscription

A subscription is required. The Reco is a monitored system, and without an active subscription the monitoring and recovery service does not operate.

SmarTrack publishes subscription rates of £8.99 per month by direct debit or £99 per year.

SmarTrack’s standard retail package for the Reco includes the device, installation and the first year’s subscription. The subscription must then be renewed to keep the service running.

Prices and terms are set by SmarTrack and Global Telemetrics and can change, so please confirm the current rates and what is included with your order before purchasing. Full terms are published by Global Telemetrics.

How Nationwide Mobile Installation Works

1. Order Your Tracker

Choose the Reco S7 online or call our team on 01245 921133 if you’d like to check the category against your insurer’s requirement first.

2. Arrange Your Installation

A member of our fitting team contacts you to agree a date, time and location that works around you.

3. We Come to Your Vehicle

Our engineer travels to the agreed address — home, workplace or dealership — anywhere on the UK mainland. There is no need to book your vehicle into a workshop.

4. Professional Installation

The Reco is hardwired into the vehicle, concealed, and tested. If you have asked for the optional alarm input to be connected, this is done at the same time — please tell us before the appointment so the engineer arrives prepared.

5. Setup and Handover

Your Global Telemetrics account is registered, the app is set up on your phone, and the engineer shows you how the system works and what to do in the event of a theft. You receive your installation certificate to forward to your insurance provider.

Why Choose Safe & Sound Mobile for Tracker Installation?

Vehicle security installation is what we do. Our engineers fit tracking systems, alarms and immobilisers across multiple leading brands, so we can give you a straight answer about which product actually suits your vehicle and your policy rather than steering you towards a single manufacturer.

Our mobile service covers UK mainland postcodes, which means your vehicle stays with you and there’s no workshop visit to arrange. We’ll talk through the difference between S7, S5 and S5 Plus before you buy, so you don’t pay for capability you don’t need or end up with a device your insurer won’t accept. Subscription costs are explained clearly up front, your system is set up and demonstrated before we leave, and you can call us afterwards if anything needs looking at. You can reach the team on 01245 921133.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Reco S7

Is the Reco S7 accepted by my insurer?

The Reco is tested to the Thatcham S7 standard, which is the category many insurers ask for on standard cars, vans and motorhomes. However, tracker requirements vary between insurers, so always check the exact category specified by your insurer before ordering. Some policies require S5 or S5 Plus, which the Reco is not. We cannot guarantee acceptance on your behalf.

Is installation included with the Reco S7?

Yes. Professional installation is included, carried out by a Safe & Sound Mobile engineer at your home, workplace or dealership anywhere on the UK mainland. The Reco is a hardwired device, so it needs to be fitted properly and concealed — it isn’t a plug-in unit you install yourself.

Does the Reco S7 require a subscription?

Yes. Monitoring and recovery are provided by Global Telemetrics under a subscription, and the service does not operate without one. SmarTrack publishes rates of £9.49 monthly by direct debit or £99 annually, with longer terms available. The standard retail package includes the first year. Please confirm current pricing with us before ordering.

What tracker category is the Reco S7?

It is tested to Thatcham S7. That covers monitored stolen vehicle tracking with control centre support and police liaison. It does not include automatic driver recognition, which is what separates S5 devices from S7 devices. If your insurer has specified S5, you will need a different product.

Does the Reco S7 have a mobile app?

Yes — the free Global Telemetrics app for Apple and Android shows your vehicle’s current location and your account information. On the Reco, historical journey data is not available, so the app shows where the vehicle is now rather than a record of past trips.

Where can Safe & Sound Mobile install the Reco S7?

We offer nationwide mobile installation across UK mainland postcodes. Our engineer comes to the address you choose, so the vehicle doesn’t need to leave your driveway or car park. If you’re unsure whether your postcode is covered, call us on 01245 921133 before ordering.

Will the Reco S7 still work if a thief disconnects the vehicle battery?

The Reco has an internal backup battery that takes over if the vehicle’s power supply is removed, so the device can continue operating. Disconnecting the battery also triggers a tamper alert to the Global Telemetrics Secure Control Centre, so the attempt itself is flagged rather than going unnoticed.

Can I move the Reco S7 to a different vehicle?

Yes. SmarTrack devices can be removed and refitted to another vehicle. The unit carries a 3-year SmarTrack warranty, extendable up to 12 years, and is compatible with both 12V and 24V systems — which is why it can move between a car, a van or a motorhome. Get in touch and we can arrange the transfer and update your account details.
