SmarTrack Trident S7 Tracker – Supplied and Fitted Nationwide
The SmarTrack Trident S7 is a stolen vehicle tracking system tested to the Thatcham S7 standard and monitored around the clock by the Global Telemetrics Secure Control Centre. It combines GPS/GLONASS, GPRS and GSM positioning with an internal backup battery, movement and tamper alerts, and a full online account offering journey history, multiple geofences and detailed reporting. Safe & Sound Mobile supplies the Trident S7 with professional nationwide mobile installation, so a qualified engineer fits and activates the system at your home or workplace.
Is the SmarTrack Trident S7 Right for You?
The Trident S7 is aimed at owners who need a monitored, insurer-recognised tracker and also want genuine day-to-day visibility of their vehicle. It suits cars, hybrids and EVs, vans, motorhomes and HGVs, and it is a strong choice for anyone running two or three vehicles who wants them on one online account with reports, private and business mileage separation, and MOT reminders.
Choose it if your insurer or finance agreement has asked for a Thatcham S7 tracker, or if a broker has requested tracking on a higher-value or modified vehicle. The Trident sits above SmarTrack’s entry-level S7 devices because of its full web account and historical data, both of which the simpler Protector range does not provide.
You may need a different product if your insurer has specifically demanded a Thatcham S5 tracker. S5 devices use driver-recognition tags to distinguish an authorised driver from a thief, and the Trident does not include this. If S5 has been stipulated, speak to us before ordering and we will point you at the right device.

S7 Tracker Category and Insurance Requirements
Thatcham’s S7 classification covers monitored stolen vehicle tracking systems. An S7 device reports the vehicle’s position to a professional control centre, raises alerts for movement without the ignition, and continues to communicate if someone tries to cut its power. It does not include driver-recognition tags, which is the main difference between S7 and the higher S5 category.
Insurers commonly request an S7 tracker on vehicles above a certain value, on modified or performance cars, on motorhomes and caravans, and on commercial vehicles and plant. Finance and lease companies also ask for S7 tracking on some agreements. The requirement exists because a monitored device gives a realistic chance of locating and recovering the vehicle quickly after a theft.
The Trident meets this category by being tested to the Thatcham S7 standard and monitored 24 hours a day by Global Telemetrics, who work with local and national police forces and use independent repatriation investigators overseas. Where it goes further than a basic S7 unit is the full online account and stored journey history, giving you a usable record of the vehicle’s movements rather than just a live position.
Check before you order. Tracker requirements vary between insurers, so always check the exact category specified by your insurer before ordering. If your policy documents state S5 rather than S7, an S5 device with driver-recognition tags will be needed instead. Call us on 01245 921133 and we will help you match the right category to your policy.
How the SmarTrack Trident S7 Tracker Works
Installation and activation. One of our engineers wires the Trident discreetly into your vehicle and connects its internal backup battery. The unit is then registered and activated so it begins reporting to Global Telemetrics.
Everyday monitoring. Once live, the tracker reports the vehicle’s position using GPS and GLONASS satellites and sends that data over the mobile network using a multi-network roaming SIM. It also watches the vehicle’s main battery voltage and ignition status in the background.
Alerts. If the vehicle moves without the ignition being used, if the main battery is disconnected, if power to the tracker is cut, or if the vehicle crosses a geofence boundary you have set, an alert is raised. Low vehicle battery voltage triggers a warning too, which is useful on a motorhome or a car that sits unused for weeks.
Control centre response. Alerts go to the Global Telemetrics Secure Control Centre, staffed 24 hours a day. Their operators contact you to confirm the vehicle is safe. Nothing escalates until they have spoken to you, so a legitimate recovery truck collection does not become a false alarm.
Theft and recovery. If you confirm the vehicle has been stolen, the control centre works with local and national police forces to locate it. Global Telemetrics also uses independent repatriation investigators abroad who know their local area, which matters when a vehicle has been moved out of the country.
Optional remote immobilisation. If you ask for it before installation, the Trident can be fitted with remote immobilisation, letting the vehicle be immobilised or mobilised through the online account or app. This is an optional installed feature rather than something every Trident has, so tell us at the point of booking if you want it.
Monitoring, App and Subscription
Monitoring
Monitoring is carried out by Global Telemetrics from their in-house Secure Control Centre, 24 hours a day, across the UK and Europe. They receive movement, battery disconnection, anti-tamper, low battery and geofence alerts from your Trident. On receiving one, an operator contacts you to establish whether the vehicle is safe. If it is not, they begin the recovery process with the relevant police force. If you have opted for the alarm input, a sounding aftermarket alarm can also trigger a call from the control centre.
App and Online Account
The free Global Telemetrics app for Apple and Android gives you up-to-date location information for your vehicle wherever you are. The Trident is one of the SmarTrack devices that also carries historical data in the app, rather than live position only.
Alongside the app you get a full online account through any web browser. This includes current and historical journeys, multiple geofences with entry and exit alerts, business and private mileage separation, scheduled and on-demand reports, driving style data, road speed against vehicle speed, odometer readings, MOT and service reminders, selectable vehicle icons, vehicle grouping, postcode lookup and multiple logins with access control. If you run more than one vehicle, this is effectively a fleet portal without a separate fleet contract.
Subscription
A subscription is required for the Trident S7 to be monitored, and it is not included in the purchase price. It is arranged and paid directly to SmarTrack after installation.
Important subscription notes. Fixed-term subscriptions require renewal at the end of the term for monitoring to continue. Direct Debit runs monthly until cancelled, and a first payment may be pro rata to align with SmarTrack’s collection dates.
The duration-of-ownership option covers you for as long as you own the vehicle it was activated on. SmarTrack states it is transferable once within the first twelve months; after that a new subscription is required. SmarTrack’s terms and conditions apply and prices are set by SmarTrack, so we will confirm the current figures with you before you order.
How Nationwide Mobile Installation Works
1. Order Your Tracker
Order the Trident S7 online or call us on 01245 921133. If you are unsure whether S7 is the right category for your policy, speak to us first and we will check it with you.
2. Arrange Your Installation
Our fitting team contacts you to agree a date, time and location. This is also the point to tell us if you want the optional remote immobilisation or alarm input, as both must be specified before the engineer attends.
3. We Come to Your Vehicle
A Safe & Sound Mobile engineer travels to your home, workplace or wherever the vehicle is kept, anywhere in the UK. You do not need to take a day off or drive to a workshop.
4. Professional Installation
The Trident is fitted discreetly and hardwired into the vehicle, with its backup battery connected and any optional features configured. The unit is then activated and tested to confirm it is reporting correctly.
5. Setup and Handover
We set up your online account, install and log you into the Global Telemetrics app, and walk you through alerts, geofencing and journey history before we leave. You receive your installation certificate to send to your insurer, and details of how to arrange your subscription with SmarTrack.
Why Choose Safe & Sound Mobile for Tracker Installation?
Safe & Sound Mobile specialises in vehicle security installation, and tracking systems are a core part of what we do every week. We fit trackers from several leading manufacturers, which means our advice is not tied to one brand — if a different device suits your insurer’s requirement better, we will tell you.
Our nationwide mobile fitting service brings the installation to you rather than the other way round. That matters most for the vehicles S7 tracking is often requested on: motorhomes that live on a storage site, vans that work all day, or a car that is off the road awaiting cover.
We are also clear about the ongoing cost. Subscriptions are explained before you buy, not discovered afterwards, and we help you choose between monthly Direct Debit and a longer term based on how long you expect to keep the vehicle. After installation you can call us with questions about the app, your account or your alerts — support does not stop when the engineer drives away.

Frequently Asked Questions About the SmarTrack Trident S7
Is the Trident S7 accepted by my insurer?
The Trident is tested to the Thatcham S7 standard and monitored 24/7 by Global Telemetrics, which is what most insurers mean when they ask for an S7 tracker. We cannot guarantee acceptance, because requirements vary between insurers and even between policies. Always check the exact category specified by your insurer before ordering, and call us if the wording is unclear.
Is installation included with the Trident S7?
Yes. The price covers the Trident S7 hardware and professional installation by a Safe & Sound Mobile engineer, fitted at your home or workplace anywhere in the UK. It also includes activation, online account and app setup, a demonstration of the system and your installation certificate for your insurer.
Does the Trident S7 require a subscription?
Yes. Monitoring by Global Telemetrics needs an active subscription, and this is not included in the purchase price. SmarTrack offers monthly Direct Debit, annual, two-year, three-year and duration-of-ownership options, paid directly to SmarTrack after installation. Fixed terms must be renewed to keep monitoring active. We will confirm current prices before you order.
What tracker category is the Trident S7?
It is tested to the Thatcham S7 standard. S7 covers monitored stolen vehicle tracking systems that report location and raise alerts to a control centre. It does not include driver-recognition tags, which is the defining feature of the higher S5 category. If your insurer has asked for S5 specifically, the Trident will not satisfy that requirement.
Does the Trident S7 have a mobile app?
Yes. The free Global Telemetrics app for Apple and Android shows up-to-date location information, and the Trident also gives you historical journey data. Alongside the app you get a full online account in any web browser with geofences, reports, mileage separation and service reminders.
Where can Safe & Sound Mobile install the Trident S7?
Anywhere in the UK. Our mobile engineers attend your home, workplace, storage site or wherever the vehicle is kept, at a time agreed with you. There is no need to bring the vehicle to a workshop, which is particularly useful for motorhomes, HGVs and working vans.
Does the Trident S7 include remote immobilisation?
Remote immobilisation is available as an option on the Trident, but it is not fitted as standard. It has to be requested before installation so the engineer can wire it in, after which the vehicle can be immobilised or mobilised through your online account or the app. Tell us when booking if you want this included.
Can the Trident S7 be moved to another vehicle?
Yes, SmarTrack devices can be removed and refitted to a different vehicle, and we can carry out that work for you. Note that the subscription is treated separately: SmarTrack allows a duration-of-ownership subscription to be transferred once within the first twelve months, and a new subscription is required after that.
