Why choose the PowerBass XL-1040T?

Most shallow subwoofers make a compromise somewhere — usually in output, cone control, or build quality. PowerBass engineered the XL-1040T to sidestep all three. By fitting an inverted ferrite magnet, they trimmed nearly two inches from the overall depth compared with the standard XL series, without touching the basket design, voice coil spec, or power handling that make those full-depth drivers so well regarded.

• Genuine shallow fit, serious output — a 3.4″ mounting depth lets you install a capable 10″ subwoofer in enclosures, under seats, and in load areas that would simply reject a conventional driver.
• Flat, accurate bass — the proprietary single-piece injection-moulded flat cone and high-roll Santoprene® surround minimise distortion and keep low frequencies tight and controlled, even at high volumes.
• Keeps its cool — perimeter aero-vent cooling vents and a 2″ vented KSV voice coil former actively manage heat, so the XL-1040T handles sustained power without throttling back.
• Quiet, rigid basket — the non-resonant polycarbonate/glass fibre turbine-style basket eliminates the cabinet rattle and colouration that cheaper baskets introduce.

A sealed box keeps transient response snappy and precise — exactly what you want from a flat-cone driver like this. Whether you’re building a custom enclosure to fit behind a rear seat, retrofitting a van conversion, or squeezing bass into a sports car with minimal boot intrusion, the XL-1040T gives you a genuine route to quality low-end.
