SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker – Supplied and Fitted Nationwide
The SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker is a fully self-contained, battery-powered stolen vehicle tracking device listed by SmarTrack with Thatcham S7 accreditation. Because it is completely wireless, it needs no connection to a vehicle’s electrical system at all — which makes it the obvious choice for trailers, caravans, plant, agricultural machinery, marine craft and motorcycles that have no permanent power supply. It delivers up to three years of battery life, includes an anti-tamper light sensor, and is monitored around the clock by the Global Telemetrics Secure Control Centre. Safe & Sound Mobile supply and fit it at your home, workplace or yard anywhere on the UK mainland.
Is the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker Right for You?
This device exists to solve a specific problem: how do you track something that has no power to wire into? A plant trailer sitting in a compound, a touring caravan in winter storage, a boat on a mooring, a mini digger on site, a motorcycle under a cover — none of these can support a conventional hardwired tracker without a permanent live feed. The wireless unit runs entirely on its own long-life internal battery, so it simply gets fitted and left.
That self-contained design brings a second advantage. With no loom, no fuse tap and no wiring to trace, the unit can be concealed almost anywhere on or inside an asset. A thief looking for a tracker normally follows the wiring — here there is none to follow.
It is worth being clear about who this isn’t for. Because the device reports on a scheduled call-in rather than continuously, and has no connection to the vehicle, it does not provide journey history, driver recognition, ignition monitoring or immobilisation. If your insurer has specified a Thatcham S5 device, or you want detailed trip records and geofencing on a car or van, a hardwired product such as the SmarTrack Trident S7 or a SmarTrack S5 system will serve you better. Our team will happily talk it through before you order.

What this wireless tracker does not do
We would rather you knew before ordering than afterwards. SmarTrack’s published feature comparison shows that the wireless device does not provide:
- Historical journey data or trip records
- Driver recognition, driver detection cards or tags
- Immobilisation of any kind, including remote immobilisation
- Vehicle battery voltage or ignition monitoring, since it has no connection to the vehicle
If you need any of these, speak to us on 01245 921133 and we will point you to the right product instead.
SmarTrack S7 Tracker Category and Insurance Requirements
Thatcham Research publishes the standards UK insurers use to classify aftermarket vehicle security. For stolen vehicle tracking there are two current categories. S7 covers monitored tracking systems that report a vehicle’s position to a control centre. S5 covers everything S7 does and adds a mandatory driver recognition element, so the system can also verify whether an authorised driver is present.
S7 is the category insurers most commonly specify for caravans, motorhomes, trailers, plant, agricultural equipment and standard-value vehicles. It is generally what a policy means when it asks for a “Thatcham approved tracker” without naming a category. S5 tends to be reserved for higher-value cars and vehicles at the greatest risk of targeted, organised theft.
SmarTrack list the Wireless device with Thatcham S7 accreditation, and it is monitored 24/7 by their in-house Global Telemetrics Secure Control Centre — the monitored element being central to what S7 requires. It has no driver recognition function, so it is not an S5 device and should not be ordered where S5 has been specified.
Before you order: tracker requirements vary between insurers, so always check the exact category specified by your insurer before ordering. Some policies name a specific Thatcham category, some require an approved installer, and some ask for an installation certificate. Note also that the £99 annual subscription must be active for the tracking service to operate — an unmonitored device is unlikely to satisfy any insurer condition. If you are unsure what has been asked of you, call us on 01245 921133 and we will help you match the requirement to the right product.
How the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker Works
Installation. Because there is nothing to wire in, fitting is a question of siting rather than electrics. Our engineer selects a concealed position on or inside the vehicle, trailer or machine — somewhere the unit is protected from the weather, out of sight, and where the GPS signal is not obstructed by metal above it. The unit is then secured in place and activated.
Everyday operation. The tracker runs on its own internal battery and reports its position on a set schedule. The default configuration of one GPS call per day is what gives the device up to three years of life; the call-in frequency can be adjusted, though reporting more often will shorten battery life accordingly. In normal use you do nothing at all — the unit simply sits there and reports.
Anti-tamper detection. The unit carries a light sensor. If it is lifted, opened, or its mounting position is disturbed so that light reaches it after being installed in a dark location, it immediately generates an alert. That notification goes both to your app and to the Global Telemetrics monitoring centre, so interference is flagged even if nothing has moved yet.
If an asset is stolen. You report the theft to the police and to Global Telemetrics. The Secure Control Centre uses the device’s positioning to help establish where the asset is, working alongside local and national police forces. Where a stolen item has been moved abroad, Global Telemetrics can call on a network of independent repatriation investigators with local knowledge in that country.
Ongoing management. You can check the current location yourself at any time through the free Global Telemetrics app. Because the device is fully transferable, it can also be removed and refitted to a different vehicle, trailer or machine later on — useful if you rotate equipment or sell an asset and keep the tracker.
Monitoring, App and Subscription
Monitoring
Monitoring is handled by Global Telemetrics, SmarTrack’s own in-house Secure Control Centre, staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Coverage runs across the UK and Europe, and the unit carries a multi-network roaming SIM so it connects through whichever network is strongest at its location rather than being tied to one operator.
The alert the control centre acts on for this device is the anti-tamper light sensor trigger, indicating the unit has been disturbed or removed. On receiving an alert, staff make contact to establish whether the asset is safe. Where a theft is confirmed, the centre supports the police investigation with positioning data and can involve the repatriation network to assist recovery.
App
The free Global Telemetrics app for Apple and Android shows you up-to-date location information for your tracked asset, so you can check on a caravan in storage or a trailer left on site without travelling to it. You will also receive push notifications for anti-tamper alerts.
Be aware that SmarTrack describe app functionality on the wireless device as limited compared with their hardwired products, and their published comparison shows no historical data for the wireless unit. You get current position and alerts rather than a full journey log. If detailed route history, multiple geofences and reporting matter to you, a hardwired device such as the SmarTrack Trident S7 offers the full online account instead.
Subscription
£99 per year
One flat annual subscription — paid directly to SmarTrack / Global Telemetrics
A subscription is required for the tracking and monitoring service to operate, and it is not included in this listing, which covers the device and professional installation only. It is set up and paid directly with SmarTrack / Global Telemetrics after your unit has been fitted and activated — not through Safe & Sound Mobile.
At £99 a year, this is one of the more straightforward subscriptions in our tracker range: a single annual payment covering 24/7 monitoring, the Global Telemetrics app and access to the recovery and repatriation service. The subscription must be renewed each year for the service to continue — if it lapses, the device stops reporting and monitoring ends. Terms and conditions apply.
How Nationwide Mobile Installation Works
Order Your Tracker
Choose the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker and place your order. If you are not certain whether a wireless device suits your asset or your insurer’s requirement, call us first and we will check it with you.
Arrange Your Installation
Our team contacts you to book an appointment that suits your schedule, and confirms what is being tracked and where it will be at the time of fitting.
We Come to Your Vehicle
A Safe & Sound Mobile engineer attends your home, workplace, yard or storage site anywhere on the UK mainland. This is particularly useful for wireless installations, since caravans, trailers and plant often cannot easily be driven to a workshop.
Professional Installation
The engineer selects and prepares a concealed mounting position, secures the unit and activates it. Siting is the skilled part of a wireless fit — it has to be hidden, weather-protected and still able to see the sky.
Setup and Handover
We set up your Global Telemetrics account and app, show you how to check your asset’s location and what an anti-tamper alert looks like, and hand over your installation documentation along with our aftercare contact details.
Why Choose Safe & Sound Mobile for Tracker Installation?
Safe & Sound Mobile specialise in vehicle security installation, and with a wireless tracker the value we add is placement. Anyone can put a self-contained unit somewhere; getting it concealed, protected from water and vibration, and still reporting reliably takes experience with the specific type of asset you are protecting.
We fit across UK mainland postcodes at your home, workplace, yard or storage compound, which matters when the asset is a trailer, caravan or machine that cannot easily be brought to a workshop. We also work with multiple leading tracker brands rather than a single manufacturer, so if a wireless device is not the right answer for your situation we will tell you honestly and suggest what is.
Beyond fitting, we will explain the Thatcham categories in plain terms, be straight with you about what the subscription costs and what it covers, set up your app and account on the day, and remain contactable afterwards. Call us on 01245 921133.

Frequently Asked Questions About the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker
Is the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker accepted by my insurer?
SmarTrack list this device with Thatcham S7 accreditation, the category commonly specified for caravans, motorhomes, trailers, plant and standard-value vehicles. However, tracker requirements vary between insurers, so always check the exact category specified by your insurer before ordering. We cannot guarantee that any particular insurer will accept a given device.
Is installation included with the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker?
Yes. The price includes professional installation by a Safe & Sound Mobile engineer, carried out at your home, workplace, yard or storage site through our nationwide mobile fitting service across UK mainland postcodes. Activation, account and app setup, a handover demonstration and your installation documentation are all included.
Does the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker require a subscription?
Yes. This listing is supplied without a subscription included, but tracking and 24/7 monitoring only work with an active subscription. It costs £99 per year and is arranged directly with SmarTrack / Global Telemetrics after installation. It is a single flat annual payment, so there is no monthly commitment to manage.
What tracker category is the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker?
SmarTrack list it with Thatcham S7 accreditation. S7 covers monitored stolen vehicle tracking without a driver recognition requirement. It is not an S5 device — it has no driver detection cards or tags and no immobilisation — so if your insurer has specified S5 you will need a different product from our range.
Does the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker have a mobile app?
Yes. The free Global Telemetrics app for Apple and Android shows current location information and delivers anti-tamper notifications. SmarTrack describe app functionality on the wireless device as limited compared with their hardwired range, and it does not provide historical journey data.
Where can Safe & Sound Mobile install the SmarTrack S7 Wireless Tracker?
We offer nationwide mobile installation across UK mainland postcodes, fitting at your home, workplace, yard, storage site or marina. We also fit at our Chelmsford workshop if you prefer to bring the asset to us. Call 01245 921133 to confirm coverage for your postcode.
How long does the battery last, and what happens when it runs out?
SmarTrack quote up to three years of battery life based on one GPS location call per day. The call-in frequency is configurable, so requesting more frequent updates will reduce that figure. The device is not rechargeable, so when the battery is exhausted the unit needs replacing rather than topping up — please factor that into your longer-term planning.
Can I fit it to a trailer, caravan or machine that has no power supply?
Yes, and this is exactly what it is designed for. SmarTrack list the wireless device as suitable for motorcycles, motorhomes, plant, agricultural machinery, marine craft and trailers. Because it is entirely self-powered with no wiring, it works on assets that could not support a conventional hardwired tracker, and it can be moved between them as your needs change.
